Shadow an Engineer: Call for Volunteers

April 2016

Shadow a Structural Engineer is an opportunity provided by SEAoNY to college students who wish to learn more about the everyday life of a structural engineer (the nuts and bolts!).  Each student will be paired with a professional to follow him/her through a typical workday, which may include structural design and analysis, review and markups of drawings, construction administration - maybe even a site visit, if permitted!

  • Professionals would only be expected to commit to one 4-hour session with a student
  •  Students will be randomly paired with professionals
  • Students will be informed that this is NOT an interview, just a way to see a practicing engineer in his or her typical day
  • Coordination of specific date/time will be on a case-by-case basis, and coordinated directly between the matched student and professional.

For more information, contact the SEAoNY Education & University Outreach Committee at:  SEAoNYshadow@gmail.com

We hope that many of our members will be willing to volunteer this year!
