Thank you for your interest in applying via SEAoNY's Small Practice Engineering Committee (SPEC) internship portal! We are a network of small structural engineering practices throughout the NYC metropolitan area. Working at a small firm is a bit more personal than your typical larger firm; you will be exposed to a lot more sides of the business and will be working more closely with clients on their projects. You typical daily tasks will vary based on the business that you end up in, however, below are some tasks you may have:
- Structural design & analysis using structural software, spreadsheets, and hand calculations.
- AutoCAD drafting & preparing drawings for DOB filing
- Site visits and taking measurements & notes on site
- Assistance with report writing & proofreading
Below are some expectations for the role:
- Applicants should be pursuing (or have completed) a civil engineering degree with structural design specialization
- Applicants should have completed at least one steel and/or reinforced concrete design class
- Applicants with OSHA certification preferred
- Must have or be able to purchase steel or composite-toed boots for site visits
If interested, please fill out this quick survey. The application will be open through March 31, 2025.
