The First Deputy Commissioner of the New York City Department of Buildings reviewed recent initiatives regarding site safety, stalled sites, demolition, concrete testing, and the urbanSHED competition. Subsequent presentations focused on concrete testing issues, the behavior of historic masonry buildings, online resources for structural research of historical buildings, and the new demolition filing requirements. A summary of the presentations will be available on the DOB website shortly.

In these difficult times, we are grateful to the firms who have supported us as sustaining members of SEAoNY. Our organization has a strong financial position as a result of their generosity, which has allowed us to continue to offer an outstanding array of programs. These firms are recognized on our website.

We continue to prepare for the NCSEA annual conference, which we will host from September 30th to October 2nd this year at the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City. At this time, we have finalized most of the speakers and we are working with NCSEA to book sponsors and exhibitors in order to finance the event. We will provide further updates as we get closer to the date.
